  1      Guest Speaker: ”Steam Trains Around the World”
          Sue introduces a talk by steam train enthusiast
          James Waite.

  8      Captions & Coffee
          To loosen your mind for interesting cap- tions we
          will be supplying coffee of the Irish nature
          (or any other liqueur goodies we may have in
          the COPSE cupboard). Paul D & Sandra

15      In the News
          If you have seen anything of interest in either a
          newspaper or electronically please bring it along
          to share and discuss with your fellow COPSErs.

17      Planning meeting for COPSE activities for October, November and December
          Come along with any ideas you have for club
          activities, days out, Tuesday club evenings,
          weekends or anything that might interest COPSE
          members for October, November and December, to
          help plan our programme. All suggestions are
          welcome, new ideas, and especially if you can help
          organise them. Meet upstairs in the Spread Eagle
          pub in Katharine St Croydon for 8pm start, where
          everyone is welcome.

22      Wine Tasting
          By popular demand we return with a wine tasting
          evening with a selection of wines to taste,
          describe and guess their origin and price.Andrew,

29      No Hall—Quiz Night at the Builders Arms.
          Another opportunity to take part in
          the pub’s Tuesday night quiz. Meet 8pm on-
          wards but no later than 8.45pm for a 9pm start, as
          the quiz master comes and collects the fees prior
          to the start. Sandra.

September

  5      Guest Speaker: ”Bikes Revived”
          Phil O’Donoghue who set up and runs Bikes
          Revived will be providing ”Dr Bike”
          where he will demonstrate how to do a bike
          ”MOT”. Plus, a prize for the first
          per- son to spot all the of the faults on
          the ”Bike of Doom”! He will also
          bring along an electric bike for everyone to try
          out. Ireen.

12      Guest Speakers: ”Oil extraction/fracking”
          COPSE welcomes guest speakers from ”A Voice
          for Leith Hill ” and ”Brockham Oil
          Watch” . They will also be bringing along
          an exhibition. Sandra.

19  – 25    Antarctica Talk
          Hopefully, be blown away by photographs of
          Keith’s trip to Chile and Fjords, Falk-
          lands and Antarctica. Keith

26      Folk Dance
          A chance to take to the dance floor with
          instruction from caller Nigel Bassingdale. Ireen.

October

  3      Coffee Evening
          COPSE will take part in the World’s Big-
          gest Coffee Morning (Evening) to raise
          vital funds for MacMillan Cancer Sup- port. There
          will be coffee and cakes to purchase and funny
          little games to entertain us. Please come along to
          support this important cause.Olga
